Handloom saree in India

Handloom sarees are a traditional textile arts of Bangladesh & India. the production of handloom sarees are improtant for economic devlopment in rural india. completion of a single sarees takes two to three days of work.several regions have their own  traditions of handloom sarees.

A handloom sarees is often woven on a shuttle pit loom made from ropes , wooden beams& poles. the shuttle is thrown from side to side by the weaver. other weaver use a fly-shuttle loom which can produce different types of patterens. the sarees can vary in size & quality.

History Of Handlooms In India

The handloom industry rolls its carpet back to the ancient time. the very first fragment of india handloom was excavated from the  parts of egypt. after that, finely woven & dyed cotton fabrics were found in Mohenjo daro (industry valley civilization ). there were some more excavations that speak of the golden history of indian handloom. in fact, traditional handloom style has been one of the oldest forms. even, the vedic literature also has mention of indian weaving style. apart from this, few examples are also seen in buddhist era scripts about the woolen carpets.

prior to imperialism& colonization, all the natural fabrics (silk,cotton&jute)  were handwoven. And khadi was among the prevalent materials at that point of time. later on , the mechanical system created ways for the faster compleation of spinning & weaving. after the introduction of machinery, the technicalities were given due care & the fineness came in a better way. this also helped the weavers, embroiders & hand printers to create new designs. at the time of british,the exports bussiness on cotton & silk also started. this enabled the indians to showcase the talent of their expertise in other countries also.

Kota Doria Saris Of Rajastan

Rajastan is well known for fine kota doria muslin saris which have special chequred weave, locally known as Khat. the weave is very fine & the weaving method used is primitive with same method being used in today's power-loom era.

The Kota Doria is famed for its delicasy of weave,its palette of colours & it gossamer appeal. these weaves with their alternative silk & cotton yarn combined with zari have a wide appeal.the weaves originated in mysore & were introduce to rajastan when the weavers migrated there due to the beneficence of members of the rajastan royal army. in mysore thes weaves were called kota masurias. the tradition of kota doria saris extended from the southeren state of mysore all the way to rajastan. over time, this weave has devloped in to two streams : the first is the simple cotton fabrics weaves from the local population : & the other the fine ornat doria fabrics that are embellished with brocade work. the letter was used mainly by the local nobility & the wealty urbaan classes. these weavers are really found these days. the advent of compitation from maheswar is responsible, chiefly, for this. plain cotton weaving has also declined over time.
